Videos of Watches on YouTube etc

Thank you for your kind compliments, Caruso. It's my pleasure.

I tried to search the whole you tube for someone who may have done something similar with the Casio TM100. I found NONE. So must well be the first.

The video was taken with an amateur 5 MP camera in video mode. The sound from the video clip is a little "tame" and actually does not do justice to the quality of the RF signal transmitted to the Hitachi Boombox. It was actually much clearer and better. My neighbor thought I invited Survivor to perform in my house. Hahaha !

Pay close attention to 3:06 ~ 3:09. It was an unintended good effect. I made a resonating beat to the song fiddling with the earphones. I quite like it.

I can't be the first for the other watches like Seiko TV watch because some other watch enthusiast have uploaded their video of the Seiko TV watch in action.

Glad that the community liked my work.

Well ME I think we've demonstrated to other members how easy it is to get a video up, and how they're likely to be the first for most vintage digital watches. I record mine on my smartphone, bluetooth it onto my laptop then upload to Youtube. It would be nice to see some others.

Yea Caruso,

I enjoyed sharing mine as I have enjoyed producing it. I do not have a big collection. So when I produce a video, I want it to be at its best to show the capability of the watch. I may soon do for the Citizen Radio watch and Seiko TV watch when I find time.

Please enjoy and "Like" the clip.

ME, absolutely fantastic !!! I really like the video, it possibly can´ t get more nerdy than this.

If it is not this video of yours, i don´t know what other video could convince disbelievers that vintage digital watches are sooooooooooo coooooool !

And last but not least, your pick of the song was great ! No pop crap, no "Modern Talking"...

This kicks... you know what, hehe !

This one is definetly a new victim for my video collection in the next time, thank you very much for this outstanding piece of video !

Hey, pocket, looks good and interesting.

I have never seen this watch before. BUT !!! the video would be better if you add some spoken commentary to it, since this is a somewhat unknown watch. When was it released ? etc.

Hi Oet !

I have not heard from you for a while now ! I think this is the first time i exchanged thread postings with you ever since PCS site took a facelift !

Thank you for your kind comments. I am glad that you liked it. However, I just went to take a look at the You-tube clip.

Only 49 views so far. Not even 100 ! That's SOOOOOOOOOOOO depressing !

It's my first time putting up a clip and probably some advice from anyone would help.

I was looking around. Even other watches scores tens of thousands of hits. The TM-100 ? Only a miserable 49. What could be the reason ?

Could it be :

  • The video tag ?
  • The watch itself ? (which few people searches on)
  • The music or
  • The category which I post it under. (currently Sci & Technology)

Could anyone comment on the poor view rating thus far ? If view ratings do not pick up in the next couple of weeks, I may consider taking it down.

Me, PLEASE don´t take it down ! I really love this one !

Give the video some time, only time will tell if it is interesting enough, i think one or two years is more reasonable, remember you are sharing some old school stuff many people haven´ t heard of  since they are younger than you, don´ t share the same interests, some are older than you and have no interest etc. etc...

The video tag ? I don´ t think so (if someone knows what to look for) , but maybe you could create a more common term... Something like "Using my old lcd watch to play music on my ghettoblaster" or something like that. Maybe this would generate more views.

The watch itself ? Yes, the average joe has never heard about  it probably, "CASIO TM 100" is something alien to him, could be a laundry detergent, too ?

The music ? NOOOOOOOOO ! BANG THAT HEAD THAT DOESN´ T BANG ! LOVE IT OR HATE IT !

The category ? Yes. It is possibly NOT what people are looking for in this category with the current tag. I must admit i am not experienced with youtube, but i think there must be many more other categorys which would fit your watch more than "scientific something". Aren´t there any more specialized watch categorys ?

Another idea: What about to provide a little intro before your current video, what kind of watch you demonstrate here,  something about its history and timeline etc. ? I mean, the video as it is at the moment is somewhat confusing when someone stumbles about it without any clue ?!

Hope i could provide some ideas. PROST! CHEERS!

Hi Oet,

Thanks for your encouragement. I have taken on your advice and done the following:

  1. Changed the title of video clip.
  2. Put it under the category of "Entertainment".

With some luck, I also managed to trace the You-tube clip which I used to play the song into the earphone and broadcasted on the ghettoblaster, using TM 100 transmission.

Here it is :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?f...x2XORkwP3C5q0y8MxKs=

The video is really retro. On first watch, it looks as if the 5 guys are marching to a gang fight. LOL ~! Definitely suits the rhythm of this song.

It is included for comparison of sound quality. It has a respectable 21 million hits. I hope hope the one played out by my Casio TM 100 could gain back some favor and popularity for the sound track.

Good day all ~!

Saw your clip.

Notice that it was quite easy for you to score a spare on that bowling game watch. 4/4 times you did it.

Is it possible to "Strike". 3 Questions though;

1. Does it play a 10 frame game ?

2. How does the watch tell you what frame of the game are you at ?

3. How do you know your accumulated score at any time of the game ?

The Casio GG-9 golf game does tell you how many "rods" you have accumulated so far in the 9 hole game. So it piques my curiosity if this watch does add up your accumulated bowling score for you.

Thank you that. It's encouraging. =)

Last checked. It has hit 104 views. I am thinking of doing another one on the same watch. Kind of like a control experiment if the "music" factor plays a part. Need to find time to do it.

I don't remember ever playing a full ten frames.  I didn't achieve a strike but it wasn't for a lack of trying.  The watch does not tell you your current score.

Tomy also makes a Golf game as well and I recall gameplay being similar to the GG-9: three different "screens", one for the tee-off, one for the fairway and one for the green.  Each hole started with par.  In fact, the Tomy Golf watch was endorsed by a professional golfer in Japan (don't recall his name).

HI PCS forum community ,

I did it again ! Another video on the Legendary RF transmitter watch. Same model, different watch. The Casio TM-100 (the one with a yellow power sticker) is screaming out loud that it wants a performance for itself.  So I allowed it. This time, with a bit of voice commentary, as advised by OET. (You get to hear me for the first time !)

Here it is :

Short explanation, 4 minute clip. Transmission quality ? / Any distortion ? You decide.

Enjoy and please "like" it.

@OET, I hope you get to see this one too !

ME, in general good work as before, or should i say it is a clone of the old video ?

The music is pureley a matter of taste, maybe it is more contemporary than my old skool rock taste and helps getting more views. You still have the old video online with that survivor song, do you ?

Would be interesting to see which one gets more views in the future.

Okay you introduced the whole thing (the watch) a bit more, but i think the introduction could be much better with:

- The video begins with a good close up video of the watch alone !

- Explain what it is (functions) and when CASIO released it. (in the way caruso did).

- Show a little bit of the other functions of the watch, THEN begin with your demonstration. (in the way caruso did).

I have to admit, i like carusos documentation style, please always imagine someone which has no clue / interest / whatever when it comes to digital watches and who is stumbling over your video: It would be be better to help those people by introducing the thing you are talking about and THEN start your demonstration showing your watch transmitting music to your ghetto blaster. I think this would avoid that people click or choose another video because they think yours is irritating/confusing etc. I don´ t know it exactly, but does "views" on youtube mean somebody has clicked the video and thats all ? If it is this way, you never know if that person has followed your video to the end or quit your video after some seconds, right ? I think a introduction part at the beginning of the video would help and could also generate some more comments as well ?!

I think some 45 seconds are enough to introduce the watch and its capabilities, then paste your current video (the one with real music, errm i mean that one with "Survivor" or that one with that computer farts and apes). Modifying and putting both online (again) with a good, but not to long introduction would be the best way, in my opinion - would be very interesting which one gets more views then !

Just my 2cents !

PROST

Hi all,

After a month of posting, Here are the results of the difference.

Posted on 22nd Nov'12 using "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor : 279 Hits

Posted on 5th Nov '2012 Using "Oppa gangnam style" by PSY : 352 Hits.

So it was within my expectations. The music used does affect the view hits ! Moreover, the first clip had a 2 weeks lead as it was mounted first.

Hi Caruso.

I think u are right. My 2nd video featuring oppa gangnam style actually has more view hits than the first. Also, view hits are not picking up. I wonder why. Maybe ppl are not finding it ? Decent G shock watches get some 12,000 hits. Not to mention that this watch is so exquisite and unique.

Tbe new caption functions on youtube have got me flummoxed I'm afraid!

I've now sorted out some captions at long last!

Following some comments on Youtube, I've put together a video of the Demo modes on my Casios.

I'm sure Casio increased sales through having these demo modes on their watches.  I know I wouldn't have bought my TC-600 if I'd just seen it in a shop window with the time display.
