PM (private message) etiquette

Moderators do not police private messages, and private matters should remain private.

However, we want to encourage all members to use good manners, courtesy, and etiquette in private messages. Be nice!

Please do not abuse the private message system to send nasty messages or send spam.

If people have opinions about this issue, please post them here.

Seems a little fishy to me, and I agree, Moderators had better not be monitoring PMs. That would REALLY suck. There have already been a few instances where I think the "moderator" power HAS GONE TO THEIR HEADS. Thats my opinion. Hey! I still have my watches. Big Grin

I think Gafortiby was referring to the PMs posted by other members of the forum in their defence of remarks from Alberto.
we certainly dont have privileges to look at peoples private PMs all we can do is lock or remove threads that do not follow the rules of the forum set down by Paul.
If you feel in any way we have not carried out or duties or got too big for our boots please let us know. The only reason we were asked to moderate was for the benefit of forum users to ensure the forum runs smoothly, we have only been moderators for a small amount of time so are bound to make mistakes as we are still learning, but we wont know we are making them unless someone points it out.

kind regards

JUST AN OBSERVATION I HAVE HAD. THATS ALL!!

Sorry, I meant to say. Just an observation I have had. Thats all. Please dont end this thread prematurely because of my CAPS.

Yes, I agree, the site was in need of some further moderation, but only a little. And for the most part you two have done a pretty good job of eliminating the spam, just dont let the power go to your heads. No need to pull the trigger so fast in certain instances in my opinion. Remember, this is only my opinion. Maybe I am out of line. It can make you appear to be bullying at times. I never felt that when it was just PCS. And DWL, when I use the term "you" its general, I'm not necessarily saying "You." You both are good friends to me, but just remember what happened to Bobby Brady when he was made safety monitor in one episode of The Brady Bunch. He became unpopular with his peers, AND he ruined his best suit. Let me know if I am out of line and I will say I'm Sorry.

No problems at all rws, its very difficult for us sometimes when other members are asking for a thread to be removed or locked because its going nowhere or becoming abusive.
I havent locked a thread yet, but I would have removed the latest saga, would I have been right or wrong? Should I have just let it run itself out?
I edited some bad language from a post the other day, should I have left that? I use bad language and it doesnt bother me in posts, but it may bother other members and as a moderator should I nip it in the bud before someone else reads it? In hindsight I probably should have asked the poster to edit it, but thats hindsight for you.

Anybody else got any comments? Paul maybe you should also join in here and lay down some rules.

rws you're still my friend!

kind regards

I'm glad, and I have to say, your tactics dont bother me. I dont even know what thread you are referring to. I think eliminating bad language is a good thing. You get my vote there.

Telling people how to type, what they should say behind closed doors, closing threads prematurely, or not closing them soon enough are my gripes. If there was a cruel PM between someone and a moderator, we dont need to know about it. Either a moderator was eavesdropping or they brought a bad PM to the public. I dont care to see this, or even need to be reminded who the all powerful moderators are. Again, I picture Bobby Brady walking around in his new brown suit with a reprimand notepad and his shiny PCS moderator badge. Who cares? I am through with this topic. Smiler
